This property seems to have been for sale for more than two years. Is it overpriced or is the area dodgy?
Thanks!

I wouldn't say that area was dodgy (or at least, not when we lived in Chester, but we left in 2005) but it is definitely one of the cheaper parts of Upton, and imho that house looks overpriced. It's also worth bearing in mind that you'd be right near to the back entrance to the zoo and it can get pretty congested around there in the summer. I had friends that lived pretty close to that property, but in much nicer road. Their 3 bed semi would probably now be worth around what they're asking for that 4 bed property, but if you have a look at this heatmap: www.mouseprice.com/area-guide/heatmap/ch2 I know that their old place is right on the border between a yellow and orange area, whereas that property you linked to is in a (cheaper) green zone...

Thanks-interesting map! Have fallen for a house in a yellow zone now...

well. normally i wouldn't but as everything feels so far away and uncertain i will show you my favourites as who knows what might happen?!

this one seems to have all the space we need but i see that there are about four houses for sale in that one small street-suspicious?! aware it backs onto railway line but seems ok distance.

this one is cute but maybe slightly too small (and no upstairs bathroom)

wild card cool garden etc but maybe too far out??

any suggestions?

I'm no help at all. Grin I like the location of the bungalow but really don't like bungalows so I wouldn't, personally, consider that one. My favourite of those 3 is the 3 bed semi in Hoole, but there's obviously major restyling needed, so I can see that the first is probably a bit better value, despite the higher asking price.

i agree re the semi. bungalow was picked for location-i don't mind bungalows but might mind not having an upstairs loo. worried about all the houses for sale near the first one though.

tis confusing but still more fun than having to think about the torture of selling our own place first!
