For the sake of my sanity help!

I bought this for DD's bedroom with the desk combo and have spent a while trying to put the thing together single handed tonight. I have managed to snap the wooden pegs on one of the shelf divider things, so the pegs are now stuck in the holes and there is nothing 'hooking' one divider onto the shelf. I thought I could get away with one big gap at the top i.e. instead of 4 'boxes' I have 2 with the end 2 as one. However, my DD is having a total meltdown about it, and I haven't a clue how to fix it. I have no idea how to get the snapped wooden pegs out the holes they are now in - if I could get the pegs out, I'd go back to ikea and get 2 new ones and sort it than way. I'm thinking maybe glue? But no idea if it would work, or what type would be suitable. Help! Any ideas on how to rectify this monumental fuck up?

Could you screw on a little right angled metal bracket underneath the shelf?

You could drill out the snapped wooden pegs...

can you screw a small screw into the broken wood peg and gently pull it out with some pliers.

Thanks! I've put the whole thing together with the wonky divider but its not upright yet so will dismantle again and try the screw thing.
