Getting a mortgage with bad credit rating.

DH has a bad credit rating and we tried to get a mortgage for a new build house yesterday. They went through all the affordabilty stuff and asked what the value of our house was. It worked out that we can easily afford the payments for a new house. But of course the credit rating was what let us down.

Unfortunately when DH moved jobs he went a couple of months of not being paid as much so we had to miss a couple of payments to make sure we made the mortgage payments.

I was wondering if there was anyway of getting a mortgage despite his bad rating, we can't do anything in my name as I am a SAHM so only 'earn' child benefit.

DH's Nan has offered to be a guarentor(sp) as she has enough money in the bank to buy the house we are after. But not sure if that would be possible or not.

Thanks for any help and information.

Speak to a financial advisor. They will know what lenders might consider you.
