Sharps and the likes - home office from scratch

I don't usually like what I see in their catalogues but we have a loft that's pretty much empty right now except for a desk and lots of electronic equipment on the floor. My DH uses it as his office but there's no cupboards or other surfaces to put printers and stuff. Problem is, I am totally lacking in imagination to put an office together. I don't know what to buy and then make sure that the whole thing looks put together. We like the industrial look, butch and rugged but like I said, I don't trust my design abilities and I think if I start buying bits here and there, the space will look like a jumble sale. So I started thinking that perhaps I should bring in the professionals, but apart from Sharps, who else is there that's not too pricey. We have tried consulting with a local carpenter but that was ridiculously expensive for a few sheets of mdf. I'm rambling now. Any suggestions anyone?

Ikea? I think they do some decent modular type stuff for offices - dh likes the look of the white desk and shelf unit.

I do like quite a lot of their stuff and the prices are of course amazing, problem with Ikea is, their furniture simple doesn't stand the test of time. All their lacquered furniture degrades in sunlight and gets very badly damaged with normal use. I was hoping for something that will still look good in years to come.
