There are absolutely loads of things I fancy from this shop, particularly light fittings. Does anyone have any experience iof this French shop?

The catalogue is quite like Ikea and it is quite reasonable. I think they deliver to the UK and have a few outlets here too.

Never heard of them but I'm off to google - you may be my bank balances enemy. grin

We are in France and I'm typing this while sitting on my rather smart MduM sofa. Which was about a third of the price of any others we saw and three times as nice. Our curtains are from there and our bedside tables. Don't know what their delivery to UK is like but can vouch for their stuff smile

Can vouch for quality of stuff. Delivery ok in uk tho think it might be of the tell you day before and have to stay in all day type.

They deliver to the UK?? <cuts up credit card> seriously though, love their stuff.

I have a cabinet arriving from them next week and am in UK. I could furnish my entire house from there. Friend recommended to me - she ordered a chair from there years ago and it has held together well.

This is what I wanted to hear. Thanks!

Slightly concerned about the compatibility of the light fittings if they were manufactured for France... Hmmm need a sparky's input...

Spotty, I've brought lights in the other direction (ie,UK to France) and my dh and FIL put them up without any problems.. We've not gone up in smoke I mean. Yet.

Yes, lovely stuff. Our dds bedroom furniture is from there, and withstood quite a lot of abuse.

Omg. Lovely stuff! Am moving next week and looking at furniture/decor porn things wot I can't afford so this is perfect!

I kitted out my entire apartment in Nice in their stuff..Fantastic quality furniture at good prices. The delivery guys even lugged the lot up 6 flights of stairs and unpacked it all even though the company only tend to deliver to the front door of the ground floor!!

Can highly recommend!

Still obsessing about this shop. Is there one in Camden please?

spotty26 Mon 17-Jun-13 17:27:47

In googling this a bit more I have seen that Maison du Monde Camden... is something quite different to Maisons du Monde which I am after! So forget the request I have answered my own question and internet shopping it is for me now.

Have finally recived Secretary Freeport desk ( £299+£39 delivery). it is such poor quality. Paint is chipped and missing in places. The roler top cannot be shut. It just looks cheap and wonky. do not waste your money. Should have bought something in uk which I could have seen beforehand.

Hi I would like to order a console table from Maisondumonde and notice that its a lot cheaper if I order it on the French website but it will not accept my postcode therefore forcing me to order through the UK website and where it's more expensive. Anybody else managed to order through the French site to deliver to the UK....

We bought a faux concrete 'Minerale' table a year ago. Weighed a ton and the French delivery guy couldn't have been nicer but obv couldn't manage it on his own. (So who else?)🆖 Really pleased with it, despite the odd chip. However, within 6 mths top is very scratched by everyday use - plates, cutlery, etc. Emailed them but they said we should have known that would be the case and taken precautions, like painting a protective layer on! Nothing in the description to say this! Wouldn't buy from them again - good designs but poor quality, and dealing with the French IN French on phone is impossible unless youre fluent.

I bought a coffee table from MdM which was almost identical to one from West Elm. Except it was about half the price!
Shipping too a while but as long as you're not desperate for the item within days then yup, go for it

You are right they seem great, afterall they are advertised in a uk house magazine and have lot of inexpensive interesting stuff BUT look at reviews on trustpilot and reviewcentre and believe the overall feeling! I wish I had first. I spent £2700 with them, Got lovely lamps (albeit french plugs), great vases, sideboard miraculously nothing wrong BUT two chairs have very sharp screws that catch peoples clothing, two bedside tables (look lovely) but have to hold the top with one hand whilst pulling the door open and the drawers i can no longer open so i will have too shave a little wood off; I was willing to accept this but the dining set was the most upsetting. The benches that match the table will not hold weight in the middle and cracked in the centre, I believe the other one and the replacement will also do so, as it is bending massively in the centre. I was offered a refund for these, but told i couldnt for the table as that was too long ago! The last bench was sent only two weeks ago (when i had phone call repyling to complaint), but told because items sold seperatly tough, no refund!!! However the £800 table and £600 benches also give off a stain that had ruined a white cushion and a friends top and are not fit for purpose. I am so sad, as we have little money and have waited for a table (not) like this for a very time. I now sit at my old postage stamp size table.

I have very bad experience with the quality of products. I ordered children wall rail and it arrived completely damaged. I called the customer service and they resend it. The second one was also damaged and broken in 3 differen places. Unfortunatelly it was very cheaply made and also very badly packed. On the top of it I had lots of issues with customer service to return it. I like the designs but the quality is far behind.

I live in France and regularly go to a MduM shop 15mns drive away. The quality is very, very variable. I've got lamps and dining chairs from there which I'm thrilled with. I also like the Christmas decorations. However, I was very disappointed with the bedside tables and more substantial furniture and ended up getting them from IKEA instead. I wouldn't recommend buying from the catalogue/website without viewing first, unless you can afford to throw your money away. It's hit and miss so it's a gamble..

Don't buy from them!! £250 mirror arrived from France completely smashed and they refused to refund as i didn't open the box immediately so they said it was my fault. 'Customer service' (so-called) was very rude and condescending.
They didn't even say they were sorry.
Save yourself the grief.
Anyone want a smashed mirror for free?

yms1969 Wed 03-May-17 14:27:19

I've now looked at the threads and wished I had before. Arghh! I'd rather have bought something cheap from IKEA. At least they refund broken products.

I'd be careful with light fittings - I bought a lamp from them a couple of months ago and it came with a French plug. Tried plugging it in with an adaptor and that didn't work, in the end I had to take it to an electrician and have the wiring adapted for the UK. Complete pain, and rather costly, although I do love the lamp.
