And if so, were they any good? Or any other recommendations for moving from south to north England!

Used them. Wasn't impressed. We used them for a small and easy move - just taking furniture out of our old flat which we'd been renting out and moving to our new home. They were fast but careless of the items being moved and the property being vacated. And stroppy at destination.

I'd ring round a load of BAR registered firms locally - and try the ones at your destination - you might find one who can dovetail you with a job where they're doing north to south and otherwise going back empty.

yes -and given the other response I just checked to make sure it was the same company! We used the East London branch.

we did all our packing so they just moved us from Surrey to a Midlands storage unit (we went into rental). Turned up on time, were efficient, careful, friendly, (even at the end of a VERY long day) helpful and VERY hardworking. Masterpiece of packing in the storage unit too.

and a quarter of the price of other quotes. Also had a branded van (if it matters) and the appropriate insurance. Didn't need it though, nothing damaged.

Ours was a London branch, I think, but not East London. They were just moving furniture, not boxes. Only one spoke English and although his English was quite good, there was a point when he wanted to ask us a question and we never found out what it was as he just couldn't find the vocab to make it himself understood.

You obviously had a much better experience with them, special.

looks like it..

both our movers Lithuanians but extremely fluent English - to the point of giving us alternative versions of their names on the basis that we probably couldn't pronounce the real ones.

I think we did twice. Both times they were fab.

Try GBliners, they were great for me when I moved from Leeds to Surrey. Very quick and professional!

I got GB Liners to quote - FOUR times the cost of Simply. I would hope they would be professional at that price!

I used them 6 months ago , and they were 12 hours late , damaged my furniture , spoke to me like trash , and charged me £570 instead of £460 that was quoted , they then keep saying they are looking into it for 6 months and yesterday I received an email saying that they can do nothing to rectify the situation , I'm so upset as this sad supposed to be a lovely new start down by the beach , and it was ruined by rude , late, clumsy people , I'm in hospitality , this is not how you treat your customers .... So if I'm honest , find another removal company that has better reviews

We've used quite a few different removal companies over the years. We went with Simply purely based on the cheap quote but I won't use them again. This is the only company where we've had broken items. Also, the boxes were put in random rooms even though the room was clearly written on the box. Overall it was very unprofessional.

slight suspicion here when the unhappy poster stresses that the company is run by immigrants....and that matters because...?

the reviews are interesting - half very good, half very bad. Wonder if it is branch-dependent?

when you hire a removal company you don't have to hire an interpreter to tell them your unhappy do you, if there dealing with English customers they should speak and understand the language or how are you suppose to communicate. they just play dumb and pretend they don't understand think they understood my expression tho bcus the pissed off look is the same in any language.

I couldn't agree more! If you want your furniture damaged and your money stolen , go ahead. But if not use a reputable firm. You get what you pay for I guess. These were not much cheaper but they three packers they sent did not speak English and when we unpacked my daughter discovered they had stolen her pocket money from her purse! When we reported this to them they weren't interested! We had broken items that we were supposedly covered for but they didn't pay up, then they had the cheek to charge us £350 "waiting time" they are complete rogues and seem to employ anyone. We had different people to
Unload our things ( we moved over two days) never never again. They should be struck off, closed down and prosecuted for illegal employment and theft!
