Where can I find some decent but low cost vinyl flooring?

I am looking for website or shop recommendations please as there is so much choice out there and its hard to know where to start.
No budget for Amtico or even Marmoleum so will need to have cushioned vinyl flooring for our kitchen diner.

Very limited budget so any recommendations would be great.
Would love something which looked pretty/unusual rather than fake wood/stone but I realise I may be completely deluded!

TIA

We found some in plain colours in local flooring shop. Fairly cheap. It is very hard to find none fake something flooring.

Can't give you specific places to try, but "room-size roll-ends" are often half-price or therabouts, it might be worth doing the rounds of local shops.

Harvey Maria stuff is great. The cheap stuff we have is far far lesser quality. Really significantly so.

No I havent used Evo Diddled, though I think I know the Mnetter you mean (dont remember her name though).
The tiles are lovely arent they, but our kitchen is fairly big so I cant asfford them at that price (and cant find them cheaper online).

I bought the rose des Vents one here
www.zazous.co.uk/retro-vinyl-flooring.htm
Not the cheapest but I love it - not really cushioned but we have it dining room/play room and spend a lot of the time on the floor - dc are 3 and 1

Nice, and not that pricey. Half Harvey Maria price

I really want the rose des vents stokey - are you happy with it? Not sure if it will actually go with the kitchen I'm planning but I do love it!

Thats nice Stokey.
WOuld prefer it in a more neutral colour though, rather than red.
Is it practical or ddo you need to mop it all the time?

It is quite light - despite having a red background as the tiles are white. We have it in quite sunny south facing room with creamy yellow walls (f&B dorset cream) and it looks lovely. Have a BLW 1 year old but don't need to mop all the time, just wipe the dirty bits with a damp cloth, slight sheen to it that makes it easy to clean.

But it did take most of a weekend to lay (and our room is only about 3m x 3m) and was a bit of a pain to match each tile (according to Dh who did all the work).

They do samples though so may be try a couple and see.

Thanks Stockey, will order some samples.
If anyone else has any other recommendations that would be great!

Reviving a dead thread in the hopes that Stokey may see it. Just discovered the Zazous tiles and am smitten. Was wondering if they have held up well and if you would still recommend them?

Hi Sparky, just seen this thread and thought I'd reply. We have the Zazous red star tiles in our kitchen and tbh I'm not sure if get them again. Lovely pattern though when they came alot of the lines didn't quite match up. The website have since put a comment on about this so guessing it's been a common complaint. The main problem for me is that they've worn really badly. Alot of them have discoloured and gone a yukky shade of yellow. They are also starting to lift. The tiles near a glass door are the worst effected as it gets warm there. Its really spoiled it, and its only been down a couple of years. Wish I'd gone for proper tiles now. Am planning to reorder some to replace those that are worn - can't afford to do the whole lot ??. Hope that helps!!

I got gerflor pop tiles and their normal vinyl tiles - cheaper than zazous, a bit thicker too and easy peasy to lay. Only had them down for a month so I can't say how well they will last though.

Yes. It's not £7 sqm though is it. Which makes a difference over 35sqm.

true
but it also makes a difference over 20 years Wink

But I don't think I'd a) want bamboo in a kitchen and b)want bamboo for twenty years. My thinking was that our floors would do for a bit and then we'd see. I have actually seen some lovely strand woven bamboo at around £20 a metre (that's not it as it happens) but if you don't have £1500 to spend on flooring, then it doesn't matter if it's half the normal price, it's still unaffordable. We did our floor, including rather nice underlay, for under £400 and that was more than we could really afford.
