Bosch Vs Neff for kitchen appliances

OrangeSunset · 16/04/2013 08:48

Researching kitchen appliances for our new kitchen, and getting tied in knots with all the reviews. We're after a single oven, steam oven and induction hob.

Anyone got any experiance with Bosch and Neff appliances?
I think Bosch are quite new to cooking appliances, but we have their washing machine and dryer and they are fab.
Any models to avoid? General opinion on the two?

I can't comment on Neff appliances but my Mum renovated her kitchen last year and got 3 Bosch appliances: pyrolitic oven, dishwasher and induction hob.

The first two are fine. Re. Induction hobs, be aware that with Bosch (and Siemens for that matter), the pans need to be the same diameter as the ring at least. If that is not the case, the pan is not recognised and does not get heated, which is rubbish if you want to heat two small pans at the same time. Some other brands are better; Neff might be.

Thanks, that's the kind of into that you don't get to see in the reviews.

Neff it is, I think. Maybe Bosch are better for washing/drying stuff. Our Bosch dishwasher is excellent.

Neff is ace. My oven cleans itself. My dishwasher is amazeballs.

Neff is a brand name owned by Bosch, mostly used for their cookers.

So the question doesn't work.

Ok, I see.

After even more research, it seems that the brands are not consistent - one Neff oven can be great, but a similar but different one is awful.

So, anyone bought a good oven lately?! Would like stainless steel, pyrolytic, single conventional oven.

Have had Neff cookers for years. Have just replaced 2 12-year old ones. We got a single multifunction and a combi microwave. Both have pyrolitic cleaning which is utterly wonderful.

Also have Bosch washing machine, and I agree with you that Bosch has more experience in laundry and Neff in cooking. They are owned by the same company, but the separate brands have concentrated on different areas historically. (I used to deal with them commercially).

Bosch - we have tried other makes but find that Bosch in our opinion our the best. I have just gone and got a new Bosch oven - which I love.

Also purchased a different type of dishwasher - I keep getting problems with it and can't wait until the warranty is up so that I can replace with a new Bosch dishwasher.

The Neff factory still exists, and still makes cookers within the Bosch group. I don't know if they make other things in the Neff factory, or if they also make cookers in other factories within the group. Probably they do.

I have a Neff single oven with the slideaway door, which is fabulous, and a compact combi above it which I use for most things. I'd recommend both and got them 'unboxed' from somewhere called Roy Waring South, much cheaper but brand new and just as good and with the usual manufacturer's 2-year guarantee.

I purchased a Neff Slide and Hide oven and paid almost £1,000 less than 3 years ago. The internal bulb has exploded twice, leaving shreds of glass all over the food. Also the oven door has broken off its hinges twice. Contacted Neff who didn't want to know because it was outside the 2 year warranty. Very disappointed with the quality of this appliance and lack of customer service provided by Neff. Also I received a free set of pans with the purchase. I thought they were really good quality but the handle fell off one.

We have a Neff flex zone induction hob with movable control dial and a Neff B27CR22 pyro oven. In our rental place we have Bosch. Our oven is on a 13A circuit (special oven!) and is just as fast to warm and clean as the Bosch which is a 20A oven on a big fat 32A dedicated cable. Go for controls and light location as honestly there doesn't seem to be a huge difference.

The Neff hob is on a restricted current supply compared to the Bosch so feels underpowered as it complains it can't put more than one thing on full blast when other zones are cooking. But .... it's really easy to use. The dial is great - try one - and you can just move it to any edge where it sticks until you need to put it back. The flex zones work exceedingly well and you can stack up pans on one side to keep warm regardless of sizing, even three to a side. Also you can put one whole side together and heat a pan up (useful for making gravy). Mind you the Neff was twice the price of the other one but given I am using it almost everyday it is money well spent - individual timers to turn each of the four zones off plus a kitchen timer and a keep warm setting....

The rental place Bosch hob is far more powerful but has the 1-9 scales for each zone's power and just feels less convenient. Way more powerful (32A supply again) but just not as fun to use as placement of pans is important and you need to hit the circle whereas on the neff you just have to be in the right quarter.

Bosch, Neff and Seimens are all the same company, I think all the stuff is manufactured in the same factory. If you go to a shop and open them up, they look identical inside! I'd just go for the one you like the look of best. I think they're all decent brands.

We ended up with a Samsung, which has been ok so far, the screen has a line through it, but it's being replaced. It had a 5 yr guarantee which sold it for us and cooks well.

I had a bad experience with my Neff Slide & Hide as the door fell off just 2 months after the warranty expired and Neff didn't want to know. Had is repaired at a cost of over £100 and the same thing happened again 12 months later! Not what you expect when paying £1,000 for a "quality" appliance!

All induction hobs need the pan size to match the ring diameter. We have a Siemens hob and oven which we are very pleased with - the oven has telescopic rails so the shelves slide out, and you don't need to reach into the oven. The hob is also great, no issues. Not been particularly impressed with my sister's Neff oven - it just hasn't stood up to use very well and the temperature isn't accurate any more - it's only 5 years old.

This isn't true. I find this "feature" really irritating (as per the two small pans comment earlier on the thread) and made sure I selected an induction hob that doesn't do this. My hob is Neff and I can use 4 small pans if I want Wink

Just had a less than satisfying experience with NEFF customer service I would like to share. We bought a NEFF double oven, warming drawer, extractor hood and built in microwave in a 'package' deal (>£2.5k) in January 2016 taking delivery in February in readiness for our new kitchen which was scheduled to be fitted in March. However, the kitchen fitter hurt his back so the kitchen was not fitted until June. (invoices confirm this). The microwave H12WE60N0G had a clunky door but as we don't use it every day we sort of lived with it as it worked ok. Early this month the door stopped working so we phoned the NEFF UK helpline only to be told the 2 year warranty only ran from date of purchase. I made our case that the microwave was not taken out of its box until June and this could be substantiated by the fitter verbally and by the date of his invoice. NEFF UK wanted to charge a £90 call-out to fit a wonky door and wouldn't budge. I will say that the girl was polite but firm and we are happy with all the other NEFF appliances to date but based on this experience, my trust in NEFF has evaporated.

I don't think their arguments stand up - you'd expect a microwave for last over two years so that coupled with the fact you hadn't been using it for two years suggests it wasn't fit for purpose.

We purchased a Neff double oven in 2015 and its great apart from the main oven light which has so far failed three times , this would be ok apart from the fact its impossible to replace the bulb even when after contact using the special tool they supply to do so , we have had the engineer out twice under warranty to replace bulbs but now on their third visit we have had to pay £130 as the oven is now out of warranty. It would appear that this needs to be considered when thinking of buying a Neff oven as an ongoing cost which in our case is annual.

I have all Bosch appliances in my new kitchen and am really pleased with them. The induction hob is fantastic and works well with my IKEA pans.

I’ve had neither (we’ve always had AEG which is very good). But I’m starting to research for my kitchen refurb and Neff seems to be the better brand

They are both good in my opinion. I had a Bosch ceramic hob for 16 years without problem and have had Neff ovens for a similar length of time. Currently have all Neff appliances and couldn't be happier. Neff 5 zone induction hob with flexible zones and a variety of ovens.
