Metro tiles-too bathroomy for a kitchen?

Redoing the kitchen, white units and walnut worktops. Like the idea of sky blue, duck egg or sage metro tiles but now wondering if they are more suited to a bathroom. So quick poll, are they too bathroomy?

A friend has hand made glazed ones in pale duck egg as a cooker splash back, they look lovely. They don't look as 'bathroomy' as the sharper edged, more uniform DIY store type ones.

Thanks, not sure my budget can stretch to handmade ones though nom! I'll have a browse online and see what I can find.

I've used them for kitchens - it's never occurred to me they were the preserve of bathrooms, I thought they were designed for tube station Confused.

Metro tiles are great in a kitchen. Do a search on houzz.com and see thousands of photos for inspiration!

Thanks, I had it all planned out so glad the general consensus is that they are fine in the kitchen! Don't want to go back to the drawing board.

I had metro tiles in my last kitchen and loved them. Didn't think they were bathroomy at all (and we had white ones which is probably closest to bathroomy you can get!)

Another one with metro tiles in the kitchen. They were put up 8 years ago and I still love them!

I've have them in my kitchen, up 10 years ago. They are really good and dont look bathroom like at all. And easy to wipe down.

Thanks everyone!

ruffello I saw those tiles yesterday and though they looked lovely. Did you buy them from that website, if so would you recommend them?

Yes, we did buy them from Tons of Tiles and were very pleased with the service. We ordered several samples before choosing a 30X10 cm metro tile described as lime green, but in reality is a much softer colour. I can't see that particular colour on the website now so maybe it's discontinued.

Just to say the tiling is finished in my kitchen now and I think it looks great - not bathroomy at all.
