Has French Grey had its day?

Thinking of using it for window frames (exterior) but not sure if it's been over done. Other colours aren't inspiring me. But then if I do, I don't know what colour to paint the walls. Pale cream? What about the door? Urgh, trying very hard to get away from the existing yellowy cream walls with white window frames (previous owners choice) but fearing we are going to end up just keeping it all the same because it's the path of least resistance. It's a Georgian village farmhouse if that makes a difference.

There are quite a few houses in our village with window frames and doors painted in French Grey, they look lovely. Although I'm biased, it's on my kitchen walls wich looks equally as lovely. Grin

I would say a chalky or putty type colour for the walls maybe?

I still love that look, go for it!

I know what you mean, I think that greeny look is a bit overdone now. What about Hardwick white has an alternative? We have it on our garage doors and they look lovely. (we've also used French Grey before but in our setting it looked much more green than hardwick white)

Or a brown based colour? A friend has Mouse back (against red brick) which looks lovely and I quite like London stone too.

I do hope not. Grin

Hardwick white is a good suggestion too. I recently saw in a magazine where all the internal woodwork (skirting boards, window frames, doors) had been painted in hard wick white with white walls. It was amazing and annoyingly I can't find where I saw it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I like Hardwick White. Not so sure about browns generally though, the house has two brick sides and half the back is hanging tiles, so I think that might clash. I'm leaning more in a green direction actually. Maybe we could go even greenier than French Grey .

No, I love French grey _ I have painted a mirror frame and also shelving and cupboard built into an alcove with it - looks great.
Shaded White is nice.
