We need some countryside..

Hi everyone
I was wondering if you could help me out... I've been living in west london for quite a while now and I do work in the city ie backfriars/city thameslink.

I'd love to move to the sussex countryside, get a bigger place with a garden (2/3 bedrooms, ideally detached, up to 1000-1200 pcm range) , on a more quiet place still close to really nice safe village with great local shops, restaurants, groceries, etc, some character as well.

I'd still be looking for a smooth commute to work, direct train up to 1hr? Which areas would you say are great contenders?
