Mice in the insulation?! Disaster

We took up the floorboards put in insulation and put floorboards back down, sealed worst gaps, painted floor, looks lovely

We came back after a weekend away to find our mattress smelt of wee?? Blamed the cat and bought new mattress

But our room still smells and if I leave anything on the floor it stinks

Also found cat food packet nibbled and heard scratching in the cupboards

What the hell do we do?? Destroy our floor that we worked so hard on? Anyone had this issue or know whether this smell means the mice are living in the insulation? It smells like a dirty hamster cage Sad

Thank you yes that is exactly what we did, ahh. Looking into a diff type of insulation now.. But will research the suspended timber floor thing as to how to insulate without stopping air free flow
