so, a few months ago we decided to remortgage and take a bit extra to do some home improvements.
our broker searched around and said the skipton was the best deal for us and we duly sent everything they requested off to them P60's, wage slips for both of us, bank statements, passports, - they scrutinised my bank statement and said they did not like the "conduct" of my account.
it was overdrawn so i was told to right it and resend a new bank statement.
so i took out a loan to cover the overdraft.
sent in the new bank statement, the loan was just absorbed into an existing loan so the payment remained roughly the same, just will take another year to pay off.
today the broker rang to say they had received the new statement and sent it to the skipton but they had now decided not to loan to us at all.
we are both in full time work, we have had a mortgage since 1991 and never defaulted on a payment, we have credit cards and loans which we have never defaulted on, our credit rating is good, and we were leaving equity in the house even with the remortgage.
im like
anyway we got a better deal with the woolwich and thats now going through but im ever so slightly aggrieved that they asked me to take my account out of overdraft to then turn around and say they changed their minds!
we desperately wanted to move really, but which ever way we look at it we cannot afford it, so the next best thing is to stay put and get the house absolutely perfect so when we do sell it should command a decent price, it will have been fully renovated inside and out, and extended.
its not a bad house, its just in a town we dont want to be in. we will move eventually but cant do it yet so decided we may as well get it beautiful and enjoy it.
im just slightly at the skipton for doing that.
