Outdoor light stopped working - any ideas?!

Our outdoor light has stopped working - obviously it isn't the bulb, as we have replaced it (and checked the bulb in another light). DP checked the fuse box, all ok in there. Anyone know where we should start? Or know if it would be something simple? I'm assuming it probably is a fuse in the light somewhere, but since it is dark we can't turn the electric off and look til tomorrow! Do they have fuses in them?!

Light is about 6 years old, but only been put up 2 years ago.

I should add that the reason I am bothered is because I'm 40+8 and planning a homebirth, and one of the requests is that we have suitable lighting for the midwives to arrive and leave safely should it be the middle of the night! So we need to get it sorted tomorrow! Great timing and all that....!!!!!

Is it one with a sensor? Ours stopped working after only two years and we had to have the whole thing replaced.

No, just one with an on/off switch inside!

We've had similar trouble, although with a sensor - a connection inside it had burnt out. Ours was wired into an upstairs plug socket and had been badly done. It was indeed a fused spur (so has an extra fuse between the light and the fuse box - by the switch for our light). If you are going to have a look (or have DP look) make sure the electricity is off at the fuse box first and use a circuit tester to be doubly sure!

(or get an electrician in)
