Advice on desiign for country style boys bedroom - on a budget

Right, 2 boys are moving to the attic bedroom. 5 and 3. Room is ok size, but sloping ceilings, obviously. Dark blue carpet is staying, but apart from that I am starting from scratch - need beds, storage furniture, rug, lights, accessories. I'm on a VERY TIGHT budget, but quite handy with paintbrush, drill etc, and happy to buy second hand.

The rest of the house is sort of modern country eclectic, mainly white and pale blue, and I don't want anything too modern. BUT I do want it to be fun, I want them to be excited! Ds1 would love a novelty car bed, but that's not happening - I need some inspiration for a fun room that's also stylish, and that they won't grow out of in a year. Help!

i love the vespa stuff but it might be a bit old for your 3 year old.

If my 4yo son was not getting all the leftovers from his sister's (neutral) bedroom stuff and the left over nursery stuff he would be getting something like this. The sloping ceilings may lend themselves to a sailboat theme? Lots of blue/red gingham? Cheap to source stuff - not need to do outrageously overpriced slightly pricey White Company stuff - but just the idea?

Thanks both. I have considered a sort of red/white/blue theme but not too keen on the 'patriotic' sort of look iykwim. I like the vespa stuff but yes, i think its a bit old, and a bit too modern. hmmm, stuck! Not sure about the boat thing as we're so far from the sea! but i do like the look...

My DH fiercely Scottish so I think I would be shot at dawn if I had tried to bring in Union Jacks! But maybe think the red/blue/gingham/bunting with then some blue cars or space rockets - Ohhh there....sloping ceiling space rockets. Deep Blue ceiling with stars and blue space rockets and little red aliens....

And then that is possible something that can age with them a bit easier too?
