Oh one more thing - one sofa is duck egg blue and one is a beige/creamy colour. Would they look good together in one room. Im thinking of having duck egg blue walls, ad like the idea of having different colored sofas.

What do you guys think?

Well they look gorgeous if that helps really my style I like them a lot.

Are you sure it wasn't the service from Laura ashley that had bad reviews?

er...sorry if I'm being a bit dim here but shouldn't you have been thinking about all this before you bid on them as technically as the winning bidder you have entered into a contract to buy them Confused

they're lovely ,but if you've already won them aren't you committed to paying for them now?

TeaTeaLotsOfTea · 31/10/2012 21:02

she hasn't technically won them on ebay. (I don't think)

When I clicked on it said the seller has removed the item as no longer available.

It looks like the seller had them advertised elsewhere too.

Hi guys. The seller took them off ebay so i have technically not brought them through ebay. Does that make sense?

Yes, you have committed to buying them

  • at least you know if you don't like them you will get your money back on eBay as they sell really well.

Every piece of furniture ive bought from LA has been worth it.

Thanks for the reply ladies. Im really excited about my first home! I am on Ebay constantly looking for used/second hand furniture. Hoping to kit out my house cheaply but with nice things.

One more thing - how would i go about getting these cleaned if i needed to, how do you clean fabric sofas. Everyone i know has leather sofas and have advised me not to get fabric sofas.

I have had my fabric sofa for 10 years, very pale yellow covers in the machine at 60 degrees & I tumble after. Still looks like new, even with 1 dog & 2 cats.

It's not from LA though, so I don't recommend you try it [hshock]

I have LA sofa, mortimer I think. Had it for 4 years and is the comfiest and smartest sofa in the house! Really well made and solid, and comfy.

So I'd say go for it. Price quite high though, imo, for second hand sofa? Should be in really good condition I'd hope.

Laura Ashley have 40% off brand new sofas at the mo!

They are only 6 months old. and i worked out they would cost me £2600 ish if i was to get them from LA directly, even with the 40% discount.

Do you still think that's to expensive?!?

I am currently sitting on our 8 yo Laura Ashley sofa. I think it's a Kendal. Anyway. I bought a three seater and a two seater 8 years ago. Constant use. Children bouncing on them for the last 4 years. All good, no problems, no regrets.

What about delivery? I bought 2 Laura Ashley ex display sofas in the Summer, which I was very pleased with. We had to collect them ourselves though, and it was quite a hassle to wrap them up and put them on the roof rack. You should check how much van hire/ delivery costs as this will add to the cost.

Tichky80 · 31/10/2012 22:58

They cheapest delivery quote i have is £55.00. Although that is what it would roughly cost us in petrol if we went ourselves. im thinking its better to go ourselves so i can see them and give them a once over to make sure im happy with them, and they are as described.

Do you think i got a good price?

Which LA sofas did you get, ad how much did you pay?

I bought two, two seater leather sofas from LA last year, 30% discount, £2,000 in total. They are gorgeous, I love them.

BUT

both the seat bases have split, the fabric has come away from the cover (leather in this case) along the seam. They havent been hammered by any stretch of the imagination, there is only DD and I, so not a huge family using them. Laura Ashley have been good in their customer service and sent someone to repair them, they also offered new sofas but I like these as they are now a year old and looking great with age.

All in all, I think you need to go and sit on them before you buy. I would never buy a sofa without sitting on it.

Guys i went to Laura Ashley today to view these sofas, ad eve though they are aesthetically pleasing they were not comfortable to sit on, and had no head rest. I have emailed the lady to let her know i no longer wish to purchase. She was ok about it.

So im back to square one. I love the look of the sofas on sofa.com but they are out of my price range and thy dont do interest free credit either.

Any one have any suggestions as to where i can turn to next? Feeling a bit bamboozled by sofas!

Isn't there a good website called sofa sofa or something like that which sells very reasonable sofas, but not sure if you can view them so its a bit difficult to know if they are comfortable or not. They advertise in the back of home type magazines.
