Which cooker hood (100/110 cm)?

My cooker is 100cm wide and I need a chimney cooker hood. No showrooms round here have anything that big in stock that I can find. I like the look of the ones with glass (probably curved) but online I find brand names such as Baumatic and CDA. Does anyone have any experience of these? Are they any good? Or anything else (pref not over £400)?

CDA are sold by Homebase. I had assumed they were their own label, but maybe not. TBH, I have been massively disappointed by 'good' brand applianaces in the past 5 years (looking at you Mr Miele and Mr Bosch ), so will be going for cheapest when we do up kitchen next year as then at least I will expect them to fail and not be gutted about it!

Avoid any type of recirculating fan and go for the full extractor type than will require a hole put through a wall to the outside of the building to allow the fumes to escape.

both are fine
CDA will offer you a better guarantee - CDA are nothing to do with homebase.
Also CDA tend to have nicer designed appliances.
Many high end bespoke kitchen companies use there wine coolers
De Ditrich make the CDA downdraft extractor, 100% the same bar the log yet one is £300 more than the other
At the end of the day you can go wrong with there cost for what they offer and the guarantee.

I find it difficult to understand why 1000mm hoods seem to be unobtainable now. my old one is, but I recently had to get a 900mm Elica in the new kitchen, and get the kitchen fitter to make spacers to fit the gap (I want a 1000mm gap to accomodate a range cooker should that ever be wanted)

I actually think a hood should be wider than the cooker to catch any steam that does not rise perfectly vertically.

We went for a cheap model, recommended by our kitchen designer (We now think he had incentives to recommend various brands). I would never do so again. The lights are hell to source and replace and, since replacing a light, it fuses constantly. Go for a standard brand where spare parts will be easily accessible and easily replaceable!
