F&B powder blue is discontinued ..i need a replacement

Try going to leyland/Johnson they can colour match all the f&b colours.

No problem, I definitely recommend it. I got a discontinued fired earth oil based paint mixed there a couple of months ago and the match is perfect. And its cheaper .

You can still get any discontinued F&B colour if you order it from them or a stockist. You just can't get a sample pot.

So if it's the colour you really want you should be ok.

I've got a big pot of Cooks Blue but it is far darker than that.

I've not found anywhere to use it yet - but it was a fiver so rude not to iyswim

Ps it's never a good idea to paint splodges on your wall as you are just creating your own colour card on your wall and risking more confusion. You should paint any samples onto a big piece of card/paper make sure you do at least two coats and leave it to dry and cut off any white edges.

You can them compare colours but then take then down and see them on their own, also try by window and in dark corners, in daylight and evening light as the colours really change with the light especially F&B.

If you are a very together type of person write the colour and band on the back and file away for future use and you will never have to buy that sample pot again.

I work in a paint shop and always have people who say they've bought the same sample pot several times.

soonbesailing-that's a good idea but that assumes you are painting onto a white wall. I am painting straight onto a cream wall, doesn't that change the result.

I just know you're going to tell me I need to paint the room white first

right after much consideration and the fact I can't get a tester of f&b powder blue I have decided on a dulux colour
I tried a few little greene ones that weren't right..the quality is amazing, I agree. Bloke in paint shop said it's better quality than F&B

Ok , now I am going to take another look at the little greene pallette book! I am useless at deciding aaaargh! changed my mind wile writing this bloody post!

Little Greene can also match any f&b colour. And the quality is indeed way better!

What about Borrowed Light from F&B?

If you paint your sample swatch with at least 2 coats it will have a true colour the same as when you paint onto a wall, no you don't need the wall colour underneath to be always be white, you only need to do that if you are painting out a really dark or bright (red especially) colour.

In the worst case you may need 3 coats (especially if the colour you are painting is very dark).

oh sorry, you meant non-LG colours? I think so. They have paint cards with many zillions of colours on, you just can't get samples in them.

my LG stockist only gave me the swatch with about 150-200 colours I must go and ask about other colours

Yes LG do have colour that are similar ( almost match ) F&B but they don't have the discontinued colours as standard you would need a colour ref of it to match ie an old paint chart .
