Dunelm? B & Q? Argos? for curtain poles...Quick poll please

We are getting to the end of our project so need to start thinking about "stuff". Like curtain poles Envy [sick at not bringing our old ones with us].

I am getting the bay windows sorted with made to measure silent gliss (I think) ones as think it would be foolish to scrimp there. But the DC's bedrooms just need standard white wooden ones and the dining room/family room need silver/chrome poles. Had a quick look on line and seem to be a fiar range from the standard places. Argos ones look a bit "meh". Dunelm/B&Q look OK. Will go and have a look but any particular experiences/ones to avoid/suggestions/recommendations gladly received please.

Thank you

We've bought from B&Q and they are fine - cheaper than Dunelm.

Homebase and JL are both good for curtain track and poles.

I have had Argos. As you can't handle them before purchase, they sometimes turn out thinner or cheaper-looking than the catalogue picture suggested. I find Argos is actually no cheaper than anywhere else.

Ours are from wilkinsons, they had a few colours I seem to remember and they're fine.

The limited experience I've had with Dunelm poles is that the fixings are rubbish

I've had a couple from Dunelm, and a couple of the hooks have fallen out of the wooden rings (does that make sense?). The curtains were interlined so quite heavy. I'd probably go to JL next time.

Oh this is useful - I had been veering towards Dunelm but I think this is making me swerve away! Any other thoughts?

We got ours from eBay. Lots to choose from, good prices and I didn't have to fit them in the car Grin

If you have a Paul Simon near you I would recommend them. I wouldn't buy poles from argos.... John Lewis are nice but v £££££.

www.polesdirect.com - fantastic choice of styles/finishes/prices. I bought a brushed steel one for the lounge -great quality and the same price for the pole as JL wanted for the finials!

Avoid Dunelm, if you need to take anything back their customer services are bloody awful! (see my previous thread from the summer!)

We got ours from John Lewis. Good quality, nice and solid.
