converted bungalow question!

Another question about house we saw today...

It's a converted bungalow - with 2 children's rooms in the loft. Does this mean energy bills would be high? I thought lofts were the bit you put insulation in?

This whole house buying thing is overwhelming!

I think the insulation would be between the ceiling of the loft and the tiles/slates in this case.
