I am not joking! Currently trying to find suitable grey colour paint for bedroom walls inspired by this:

www.housetohome.co.uk/bedroom/picture/coastal-inspired-bedroom?room_style=modern

but i have got so many samples and they tend to look brown or lilac or nothing like they do on the cards. Anyone got any ideas (or suggestions as to what the colour in the picture might be) before I bankrupt us with all these samples!

Thanks

Article says it's F&B so there aren't that many options...

The thing to bear in mind is that you may well have had the identical paint sample in your hands/on your wall but the colour will be influenced by time of day/lighting(even season!) and the things/colours around it.

Could it be great white though?

Cornforth White most likely, or possibly Great White.

Cornforth White can look a bit lilacy in some lights though.

I recommend Little Greene French Grey Pale, it's a pale bluey grey, not lilacy and not browny. Or French Grey Mid for a slightly darker version.

MandaHugNKiss - i think you are right they do look different at various times during the day.
minipie - cornforth white is lovely but comments from the rest of the family were that it was green?!(helpful!)

Just come back with a few more samples - F&B blackened (can't remember if I have done great white yet!need to check all my samples)

We had a bit of a grey nightmare ... mind you I've always refused to buy testers. I just go with it. Only one disaster so far - see this link to my thread- but with a happy outcome! Dusted Moss 2, its lovely!
Good luck with it!

Thanks madcows...yes I think I am just going to have to force myself to chose something as the tester situation is getting ridicolous! Dusted Moss will have to be my last one!

Hmm you clearly have different light to us if Cornforth White looks green! On our walls it looks bluey grey, with a slight tinge of purple/lilac.

Just goes to show, no substitute for tester pots and your own walls ... Smile

Blackened is quite a cold bluey-white IIRC.

I second LG French grey pale. Very nice. Fb pavilion grey might be the one? Cornforth white is also fab as it really changes colour.

Personally I hate the stranglehold that Fb had on me. Their colours can be very limited!

I have F&B Blackened on my living room, bathroom and downstairs toilet walls and it looks exactly like the colour in the picture in your link.

It does, however, look different depending on the light - in the downstairs loo (which has no natural light) it looks more like lilac. In the (south facing) living room it is very much a grey.

Thanks for all suggestions. I paused for a few days over the weekend but will try out these last few suggestions and then force myself to make a decision. Who'd have thought that choosing the colour grey would be so 'challenging'!

WHy dont you email Farrow and Ball with the link and ask them to confirm what colour was used?
I have done this before and they replied with full details.
