Browsing local properties I saw this one Check out the rug(s)....and the wallpaper..........and the shoe cupboard and a few other things.

I think it's great! So much better than all those bland magnolia houses you see.

Northernlurker Sat 29-Sep-12 18:52:35

I couldn't live with the wallpaper but it's so clearly someone's home. It looks like a friendly house. Just amused me. There are other similar properties on the market that are bland and you're right - that house does look more appealing.

Oooh. I likey.

QuintessentialShadows Sat 29-Sep-12 18:55:21

I love the house.

Perhaps as much as the woman of the house loves her shoes ! grin

justabigdisco Sat 29-Sep-12 18:57:52

I think it's brilliant <jealous>

Northernlurker Sat 29-Sep-12 18:59:07

What do you do when you want to wear the shoes though? You'd leave a gap.

Wow - I love it! Really stylish. Wish I had as much courage in decorating our house where we have played safe.

I envy people who can be minimalist without being neutral. So many individual, stylish pieces. I want to be that bold with my next house.

Very well done, but not entirely my taste. Love the dining room but the kitchen looks oddly unfinished/weirdly put together.
I like the wallpaper. Better that than one nasty red/brown 'feature' wall of triffids, Homebase's finest.

Is it Peter Plaskit's house?
Interior designer used to be on a lot of BBC Programmes?
He used to live in York.
I like it.

Wigeon Sat 29-Sep-12 19:11:18

Also, fantastic location, within the city walls, and within sight of them!

Starshaped Sat 29-Sep-12 19:13:25

Gorgeous house. The wallpaper downstairs is perhaps a little full on over such a large area but it's still lovely. Proper property porn!

jaffacake2 Sat 29-Sep-12 19:15:33

Love it smile what a great place designers have gone a bit OTT but fun. Lovely building

SaggyOldClothCatPuss Sat 29-Sep-12 19:20:18

The downstairs wallpaper is a little busy, but in general I love it! Ive decided that Im fed up with magnolia walls. Im in the process of colouring in my house! grin

BonnieBumble Sat 29-Sep-12 19:20:42

What is picture 9 all about?

SuePurblybilt Sat 29-Sep-12 19:23:08

9 is showing the city wall, isn't it?

Northernlurker Sat 29-Sep-12 19:24:46

Picture 9 is the view - within the walls. Houses in York often put that kind of thing in. If you can see a sniff of the minster it'll be featured too.

CharlotteBronteSaurus Sat 29-Sep-12 19:27:23

it's not all exactly what I would choose, but I do like that it has a distinctive style and character. Too many bland boxes nowadays.

FiveOrangeFlowers Sat 29-Sep-12 19:30:02

Absolutely gorgeous. I'd want all the furniture too envy

EyesDoMoreThanSee Sat 29-Sep-12 19:30:58

I like.

Although I only have three pairs of shoes so would go with a more traditional bookcase

Northernlurker Sat 29-Sep-12 19:33:48

Check out the Staircase in this one though.

GirlYouMakeMeTongueTied Sat 29-Sep-12 19:34:31

I absolutely LOVE it! I wish I had the house, and the guts to decorate it like that. That kitchen is gorgeous.

Northernlurker Sat 29-Sep-12 19:36:00

I want to see that staircase for real - why don't people have 'open house' viewing more? <<nosy emoticon>>

SuePurblybilt Sat 29-Sep-12 19:39:48

Love the second one. Wow to the staircase.
