How much should a new fence cost?

I am looking to get our fence replaced. It's approx 15 meters in length and will be 1.8m high. I want the type that is vertical wood, close together so you can't see through it (featherboard I think?).

Just looking for any rough ideas for cost and labour? Thanks.

I paid £800 for a fence that size but ready made panels. What you want will be more as it's made on site and uses better quality timber. (10 years ago)

I paid £500 (approx) for a 10m 3ft high picket fence that they made on site. (6 years ago)

I've been quoted £1200 for materials and labour for what i descibed, does that seem reasonable?

I can't say for sure, the only way to be sure is to get another couple of quotes. I was thinking about how much I would expect to pay based on what I have paid before and I was thinking somewhere between £1500 and £2000. There is a heck of a lot of timber involved. Of course I'm no expert so could be completely wrong.

its called featheredge-DP reckons £1200 doesn't sound too bad. It depends on lots of things like ease of access/neighbours/trees and shrubs in the way/ground conditions.

He wouldn't expect you to get much change out of £1000

A friend was recently researching this and found that the high average rate was about £50-£60 per metre for 6 foot high fencing with gravel boards and concrete posts - materials and labour all in - if you have to remove old stuff - would be extra.
