I can't decide, and DH needs a decision this morning ...... he thinks brushed, I think polished. What looks best in your opinion?

I think you mean polished chrome or brushed stainless steel by the way.... (sorry for pedantry!)

I think polished chrome is more residential to be honest. I like brushed s/s in a commercial setting though......

Polished will show up fingerprints a lot.

We have polished chrome sockets and switches with black inserts. They look fabulous and don't pick up as many finger prints as you might expect. A visitor commented on how smart they look.

Yes, that it is want I meant! Thanks. Bit overwhelmed with decision making at the moment, to the point where I can't even choice sodding sockets and light switches Grin

If you go for polished, you will be forever cleaning them.

Trust me, we moved into this house with polished downstairs and brushed upstairs, have been meaning to replaced the polished but have not got round to it yet (4 years).

The polished ones constantly look like someone had just wiped them with a snotty tissue (maybe they do when I am not looking?).

Oh that sounds nice, the one in front of me has white inserts.
I am slightly worried about finger prints and constant wiping, but kids are bit older now, less sticky!

Ahh interesting not keen on the snotty tissue look! The brushed just don't look as stylish though I don't think.

Depends on the wallpaper/paint finish but in my view the best plug sockets are the most subtle. Have never understood why people want to make a feature out of a plug socket - polished, chrome or plastic, they are all ugly, so choose whatever blends in the most - I tend to go for the white ones. Of the two options you have given, I say brushed.

Another vote for 'none of the above'. Prefer white so you don't notice them rather than making a feature out if them. But each to their own etc

Agree with MrsJD, DH is an electrician and agrees. Pick nice plain ones (not cheap ones) which recede.

Ha, my children are not even old enough to reach them, they are not to blame.

Personally I would have white too, unless you have very dark walls. If your house is old, brassy ones can look good, but only if they fit your theme.
