Need some inspiration - Bathroom

Right my bathroom is being re-done next week and I desperately need some inspiration.

It's a pretty small bathroom with bath in one corner, over bath shower, sink and toilet.

2 Walls are fully tiled with plain white square tiles which only leaves 2 walls left to paint, it's blue now and I hate it!

The accesories, shower etc. are all chrome and all woodwork and ceiling is plain white.

I want the bathroom to look quite classy and bright as light is a problem.

What colour scheme should I look at?

Need a colour for the walls and ideas for the lino also.

Just realised classy is the wrong word to use.

Thinking more modern I suppose.

Not afraid of using bright colours at all, in fact have been comsidering hot pink so far.

To give you an idea of my decorating tastes here are some quick details on rest of house:

Living room - mint walls, choc brown feature wall with flowers.
Kitchen - Bright red walls with chrome accesories.
Bedroom - White walls, Black and red feature wall.

Thanks!

Why not do walls in ivory and floor in light coloured wood laminate and put the colour in using the shower curtain, bath mat, towels and accessories? It looks neat and clean and you can then change colour with little expense?

Is it a warm or a cold room naturally?

It's a cold room, always chilly :(

Dosn't help that it is an icy blue colour now.

I really do want some colour in there however, even if it's just one wall.

Considering hot pink at the moment but what colour floor would go with this?

I have had a "sexy pink" bathroom before and although I loved it I tired of it quickly. It was also a dreadful bathroom to have all day morning sickness in so maybe bear future family plannning into consideration when you choose the colour.

I personally wouldn't go for a laminate flooring as they are also very cold, can be slippy and don't cope brilliantly with water and steam.

There are some brilliant linos out there.

I would be tempted to go for a soft grey coloured lino - get as good a quality as you can afford and ask for an off cut that you can test for "dentability". If it dents easily and the dent doesn't go then you don't want it. It will look a mess in no time.

With a soft grey you have a neutral base and then you can do as Elbow suggested and bring the colour in with the shower curtain and the paint and accessories. Then if you tire of the hot pink then it is not a massive expense to change it.

We also had a cold blue bathroom and changed it to a sage green colour. I think it was called "Willow" something. It wouldn't normally be my choice of colour but it works really well in the bathroom. That was in a cold bathroom but the green is soft enough to warm it without being alarming when you feel a bit under the weather etc.

I have just thought that maybe, once you have a neutral base, you should work backwards from the accessories you like. eg choose a shower curtain or towels etc that you love and then choose a paint colour to go with them. It is easier to get any paint colour you want than it is to get any shower curtain you want!

In my bathroom everything is white and chrome other than the slate effect floor. We have added colour with a bright aqua coloured wall, it's fresh and clean looking but warmer than your blue. I have aqua-ish roman blinds with little hanging crystal bead edging to add a bit of twinkle and a mixture of black and aqua towels.

I love the colour, it was between that and orange but I'm glad we picked the aqua.

I have no idea what your budget is but there are lots of hot pink accessories here
