People with living room on first floor

Do you like it, and how have you made it liveable in?

We moved into one a few months ago and still don't properly feel at home in it. We never sit in the living room and I'm not sure why. At the monent I am sat on the bed playing with DD and when DP gets home we will have tea in dining room then go to the bedroom!

We used to have living room on the first floor. We loved it. No-one overlooked us so we didn't have to have nets, and no-one could walk past/ look in.

Ours is on 1st floor and it's a an incredibly relaxing room, mostly used when DC in bed or are watching tv in the day time. We have huge window so it's a v. light room and nice being able to watch over the street

How old are your DC? Would they play in their rooms while you're in living room?

What else is on the first floor then? Is your kitchen on a different floor?

Our living room is on the first floor but then again so is our dining room and kitchen so it works perfectly ( the house is completely upside-down IYSWIM)

We have a through room on the ground floor with a family room, kitchen and dining room. We have a second reception on the first floor along with our bedroom we then have 3 bedrooms on the second floor.

The first floor reception is the grown up sitting room. The DCs tend to use the ground floor. Works for us. I guess the big thing is that we dont have a TV in the bedroom.

The nice thing for us is that visitors stay downstairs (parents now have dodgy knees, hips and bad backs so cant manage the stairs). The upstairs sitting room is private.

Ours has the kitchen on the ground floor and living room and DD1s bedroom on first floor. Living room is lovely and bright but so is bedroom which is directly above. I don't know what it is about it, although DD has a bad leg ATM so is laid on the bed.

Update: got DP to move his new speaker wired and tidy them up and we are now sat in living room. Have to say I'm quite liking it!

it's fine EXCEPT that you are a long way from the garden, so may not spend as much time outside/pop out as often.
