I was wondering if anyone could recommend nice areas in North London (NE or NW), happy to be out as far as zone 6. Looking for somewhere with good schools too (primary for now). Would be nice it the area had a village type feel.

Thanks for any help.

Victoria Park Village? Zone 2, village feel, outstanding primary school (Lauriston). Ain't cheap though.

High Barnet - really nice and green, excellent schools, zone 5, last stop on the Northern line

Stoke Newington.

Roffle at Victoria Park Village! Is that what they call it now?

Hampstead Garden Suburb. Lovely area - I grew up here.

Thanks for all the suggestions, will have a look into the areas. First baby due anytime.
Did wonder about towards the end of the Metropolitan line.

Ruislip is great - zone 6, end of the met line. Good area to have a baby.

Second the suggestion of Ruislip, I posted a stack of info on it in a another thread in the property section. Also Northwood and Pinner are lovely. Ickenham and Eastcote worth a look too.

If you're prepared to go into Herts then Chorleywood is really nice and still on the Met line.

Is it true that Ruislip/Eastcote doesn't have many shops and/or restaurants? Very quiet and boring?
