Tall order...

Can anyone recommend an area in the UK with the following features:

a) Where a decent house, with at least two bedrooms, can be bought for under 150K;

b) Which is in the catchment area for both really good primary and really good secondary schools (we will never be able to afford to move again);

c) Where people might be tolerant of the fact that dh is asian, and where he won't feel too out of place;

d) Which is not more than an hour and a half by train from London.

As I said, tall order I know, but if anyone can help, I'd be grateful.

Have you considered High Wycombe?

Northamptonshire? Northampton and Wellingborough have very mixed communities (including big asian communities). Milton Keynes too, I think. Leicester?

Where in London? Fast trains into London from the north are East Coast (Kings X), East Midlands (St Pancras) and Virgin (Euston) although you will mortgage your soul to buy the season ticket.

Nuneaton (fewer direct services than there used to be)
Grantham was famously put on the map by being under an hour from London
Market Harborough

The East Midlands is a cheap and friendly place to live generally, the schools are variable like anywhere, but you can normally find a decent one in striking distance.

Or Thrapston, 8 miles from Oundle but sits next to A14 providing great comms, north to A1, east and west via A14 and south via A1.

Thank you so much everyone. That's given me some areas to research!
