the house we will be moving to needs a lot of decorating and we are going to start with the bedroom. We will need new Furniture, curtains, carpet etc...

It's 18'2*14

I'm looking for inspiration, what is your bedroom like? Colours etc
What you like?
What you'd do differently if you could do it all again?

Xx

We have this wallpaper on one wall and then willow tree paint on the other walls. Our bed is super kingsize and was built for us by FIL as a wedding present (it's v low to the ground and the mattress is sunk into it, has a sort of runner round it that we can put books or a cup of tea on, the headboard is built in and is sort of slats). Duvet cover is currently this. Clothes are hidden in a recess but with a long, floor length curtain that matches the (again long floor length) curtains at the window. The furniture (two chests of drawers, a bedside table and an ottoman) are distressed white and quite French looking I suppose. I have a few different sized vintage hat boxes on the bedside table and my chest of drawers and some lamps in the same sort of green as the walls. Couple of nice rugs and two paintings on the wall that I did myself. Floor has a v light beige carpet.

I adore my bedroom.

Its a tip! a mismash of old furniture and massive superking size bed. Needs serious attention but its last on the list.

I would recommend quality furniture - look at "Pinetum" - its the best I can find at the price and its british made.

I'm not a fan of matching bedcovers and curtains. I would avoid this look and go for co-ordinating colours. ie- keep curtains plain (no tie backs or pelmets!)and duvet patterned this way you can change bedding without worrying - also its over bearing for a small room. I would still do a feature wall with a rich colour. Stripped funky wallpaper by someone like harlequin looks great. Rail roading it makes a good feature. B&W photos also look nice. Def keep it simple.

For my property we are renovating the bedroom is huge with open ceiling with all the oak timbers exposed. I will be having silk curtains - interlined for pure luxury.

I'll prob go for a biscuit waffle type carpet. Oak furniture a deffinate. And a wopping bespoke chandelier.

Just make sure you don't take inspiration from the "hotel" type rooms on 60 Minute Makeover. I think they look ghastly!
