Thermal linings for roman blinds?

Hi, we live in an old rented house, it is cold! I am wondering about putting thermal linings on the curtains, they are roman blinds and are just single layer cream cotton, but are HUGE - do you reckon I would be able to do this myself? Can't see landlord being willing to do it but put off by possible complexity and cost!Any other ideas for adding extra insulation to old, high ceilinged, original floorboarded type house?? Thanks!

I'm in the same shoes as you! My cheapest option has been to buy lovely old thick lined curtains from ebay, cheap curtain poles from argos and have hung them over my cotton blinds. Works a treat, honestly.

For my draughty old boards am getting some stop gap stuff (don't have website to hand but easy to google) that fits into the gaps.

I own my particular wreck, can't your landlord furnish it more, get some carpets?

Agree with Blackeyeddog, out of interest how did you search for curtains on ebay Blackeye?

I have had a look as we need some too for the same reason but amnver sure what to search under...

Thanks - yes I did think about curtains but can't really put poles up, it's a converted chapel and the windows are enormous and recessed, not sure poles would work. Yes we are going to ask landlord about making it more insulated next time we renew the lease. Love the house, but hate the heating bills!

There was something on this the other day, I'll see if I can find it...

Lordy Teeny your place sounds marvellous. Still think lining your blinds sounds an incredible faff. hmmm.. could you put wire (ie for hanging net curtains) and tiny hooks either side of window? I've hung a door curtain this way as there's nowhere to put a pole. Yours does sound tricky tho.

Pannacotta I just searched for Curtains or vintage curtains. I got a pair of nice old French curtains for £12.
