Any ideas? We have no cold/hot water but I had a drink at 4am. Water website says try thawing stopcock out with a hairdryer, but for how long? Any ideas gratefully received. Can't ask neighbours if they are ok yet, too early.

Oh gosh you poor things.

I guess there's nothing left in the kettle? Or bath? (lazy housewife here)

Do you have a rainwater butt in the garden? That would be Ok for washing and so on.

Also can you get to shops - if so, bottled water, obviously.

Sorry if not much help. we have a camping water carrier thing, if you have one or have family/friends nearby who could lend you one, take it and fill with water from their house maybe?

We had this this morning. DH thawed out pipe where water comes into the house with a fan heater for about 10 mins. I have never been so grateful to hear the loo fill!

Had cracked open the bottled water we had for spending Christmas in a house with revolting softened water and no drinking water tap.

re: use of hairdryer, I would do it until you started to get some water through.

Hi

Have been drying for about two hours. Rang for more advcie and was told to pour warm water over pipes I could see. The bit I've been drying is the pipe that comes out of the ground with the stop cock thingy on it but I'm getting really worried now. No wasshing machine, no washing up/dishwasher, no shower, loo takes 5litres of water for a "poo"flush Blush and I've got loads to do!!!

Bikerunski, 10 minutes?! What am i doing wrong?

We are in the same position - no water since we got up this morning. Tried hairdryer etc on the external tap and on internal stopcock and tried pouring hot water over the external stopcock (down the hole it nestles in at least).

Nothing.

We have had the heating on all day and now have a fan heater going under the floorboards.

So fed up - feel filthy and ds has a nasty nappy rash and needs a bath. Need to do laundry ready for going away for Christmas. Need, need, need to wash up all the Sunday stuff that dh was too lazy to do last night.

Any advice would be so gratefully welcomed!

Oh my Goodness. Sad

I'm so sorry you are both going through this. How are your neighbours doing?

Have you got hold of the water board again since earlier?

This is an emergency surely.

I hope you manage to have a warm night, at least.

Also - where are you? Can anyone on here help?

Aw - thanks flight! We're in Birmingham and I'm lucky enough to have lots of friends nearby offering use of their facilities...

Still no water though - and it is odd because all the neighbours are fine. I'm going to start crying on the phone to plumbers, though they all say that there is nothing they can do - woe is me, 5months pregnant with a 1 year old just before Christmas...
