i am not to impressed! I hate the fact that my 15m old is in the 3m to 5 years! most of the stuff in the winter section looks horrible! what have they done this year! its all slogans and spider man!!!

spykid Wed 20-Jul-05 09:20:13

I agree!
ds2 is nearly 5 and will be in th older boys section, which is fine if I want him to dress like snoop dog!!!!!

hunkermunker Wed 20-Jul-05 09:21:41

Vile, isn't it?! Horrible colours - really dingy

Bet the girls' stuff's gorgeous though...

Nemo1977 Wed 20-Jul-05 09:26:57

boys stuff is horrible and as HM says bet the girls is lovely

loulabelle222 Wed 20-Jul-05 09:27:31

Nemo1977 Wed 20-Jul-05 09:27:32

loulabelle222 Wed 20-Jul-05 09:31:18

haha nemo! i understand boys in spiderman if they want to wear it! I've just had a look at the little girls bits they are alright but not that great compared to last years.

Nemo1977 Wed 20-Jul-05 09:36:07

ds is only 21mths but dh has got him doing spiderman web shooting and singing superman etc as dh is one of those grown men turned adolescent..lol

jessicaandbumpsmummy Wed 20-Jul-05 09:36:59

im not overly impressed with the girls stuff either.... a bit too patchwork quilt style for my liking!

vickiyumyum Wed 20-Jul-05 10:03:40

i've been falling out of love with next since last seasons catalogue, it took a turn for the worse and nearly all the boys stuff has NEXT plastered all over it or little monster or even worse little geezer!
i'm returning this seasons copy of the next directory as i can't see my self ordering anything from it for any of us and so will just take to looking in the store occassionaly!

vickiyumyum Wed 20-Jul-05 10:05:05

I feel like writing/sending an email in complaint. i want my three year old ds to look like a three yera old and not a mini hoody wearing lout (not that all hoody wearers are louts!!!)

what happened to the nice plain clothes, stripes, animals without slogans!

Nemo1977 Wed 20-Jul-05 10:08:56

vicky i agree i hate the little geezer tops...arghhhhhhh

vickiyumyum Wed 20-Jul-05 10:10:37

i know no offence meant to cockneys but come on little geezer!!!!

loulabelle222 Wed 20-Jul-05 10:19:24

i agree its awful!!!! and they are all manky colours too where are the soft colours ? i couldnt see my ds in deep dark brown and dingy colours. its very true that next are trying to make kids look a lot older than they are.

Nemo1977 Wed 20-Jul-05 10:22:07

dont even think its next in particular but more general shops making kids look older. The only one i find is still kids being kids is mothercare

Nbg Wed 20-Jul-05 10:24:10

The slogan thing is getting worse. Marks and Spencers are getting bad for it as well now.

I remember when it used to be all aaron jumpers and dungarees.

loulabelle222 Wed 20-Jul-05 10:28:52

i put my ds is aaron jumpers and dungarees. He is still my baby and i want him to dress like one! i only just started putting him in jeans because i thought they looked too old hehe! i'm a mad one!

haha yes lockets! i am a nutter for clothes

vickiyumyum Wed 20-Jul-05 10:32:24

monsoon is my favourite at the moment for ds2 but the sizes come up really small!

they have pictures on but no slogans, got him a lovely t-shirt with a dinosaur on and one with a fire engine.

even the jeans have lovely cars and trucks on them.

but they are so expensive which is why i used to like next as it was very reasonable.

i like monsoon stuff bought ds an outfit for wedding in cyprus there yesterday

saadia Wed 20-Jul-05 11:38:42

Totally agree with the Next complaints - the boys' clothes are so drab and samey, in fact most shops have no choice when it comes to boys' clothes (must admit that ds1 is this very minute wearing a Little Geezer top).

Baby boys' clothes are a different matter, but as soon as they turn one it seems as though childhood is over.

gingernut Wed 20-Jul-05 12:08:36

Absolutely agree about Next - used to like some of their stuff but somehow each year they manage to make it even more drab.

I usually go to H&M for some nice bright stuff but you have do to sift through a lot of dross to find the good stuff there.

Monsoon is gorgeous but I'm not paying those prices. ds1 is 3.5 now and pretty hard on his clothes, it would just be daft (e.g. he climbs trees and tears things, or crawls around in the garden at nursery playing `aliens' or `pirates' or something similar (!) and wears out the knees).
