I like my tea in a china mug but I have never seen a decent design.

{[http://www.orlakiely.com/uk.cfm/house/kitchen/MAPR7H-700/3871/_/ Wow, these are almost identical to some REALLY cheap BHS placemats I bought last year]] <Disclaimer - new table, was being a bit precious, first things that weren't too hideous that I saw>

Will look at Habitat as well as £8.00 per mug isn't going to happen here really. But thanks anyway.

JeminTheDungeon Thu 24-Sep-09 18:10:00

Oh come on..I think you are just lazy OP grin

TheBalladofGayTony Thu 24-Sep-09 18:10:57

whats not to like?

shonaspurtle Thu 24-Sep-09 18:12:20

Dunoon mugs

I have family in the area so factory seconds are frequently received as gifts hmm and they seem to have an infinite variety of designs, some naff, some not so bad. They're pretty cheap.

gorionine Thu 24-Sep-09 18:14:05

is that plain enough?smile

Well, it was another trip to TK Maxx today that made me start this thread.

That's so plain I can't tell the mug from the background grin

Will peruse other links here as well.

colditz Thu 24-Sep-09 18:16:12

yes.

They are covered in little white dogs instead.

MarthaFarquhar Thu 24-Sep-09 18:16:42

i want these

AitchTwoToTangOh Thu 24-Sep-09 18:18:21

john lewis have some lovely ones, very orla kiely-ish but a bit bigger and a fiver apiece rather than seven fifty.

gorionine Thu 24-Sep-09 18:22:27

Martha, I find these mugs scaryblush!

Prunerz Thu 24-Sep-09 19:14:21

I love those Habitat ones!
Nearly bought them, but, you know, I have mugs. How many mugs does a person need?

ABetaDad Thu 24-Sep-09 19:44:41

Its OK to laugh and point at me for buying 10 of these in a variety of colours. blush

There are some nice colourful modern ones for a more sensible price lower down on this page

They're very nice ABD but "Inspired by PANTONE Colour charts, this bone china mug is glazed with a pattern resembling the iconic PANTONE Colour Chip." is a bit lost on me [philistine emoticon] blush

moondog Thu 24-Sep-09 19:49:56

I've got these Cath Kidston strawberries and stars ones

said Thu 24-Sep-09 19:55:49

Do they have to be funny shapes/smaller because china isn't as strong?

moondog Thu 24-Sep-09 19:57:07

My CK ones are huge.

ABetaDad Thu 24-Sep-09 20:02:14

said - PANTONE is apparently an interational standard colour matching system.

I didn't know either - me and DW just thought 'oooooh what lovely colours!'. grin

oopsacoconut Thu 24-Sep-09 20:05:49

I have a selection of these I also prefer a china mug for my tea and according to my DH that makes me a ponce!grin

hairygodmother Thu 24-Sep-09 20:18:45

I'm a big fan of Typhoon mugs, my sister gave me some for Christmas and they're just the right size for a decent cup of coffee.

These are the ones she gave me.

ABetaDad, they also do ones inspired by Pantone here although I like yours better. I have a Pantone book from the days when I used to have a job life, who'd have thought it could ever be so beautiful?!
