wooden worktop.. how should i treat it?

just got an unfinished oak worktop... how should i treat it? oil/varnish? which brand....?


hurried message... ds is climbing up the stairs!!!!

You should treat it with the utmost respect and dignity... as you would like to be treated too.
Or treat it with contempt if it's pi$$ed you off!

boiled linseed oil.
I always have a bit of a panic about what i've done with the rag after i've re-oiled the counter (right old faff by the way)... label says LO can self-combust .
it's the sort of thing you wake up thinking about at 3am, are the children sizzling in their beds etc.

But do both sides, top and underneath. otherwise moisture is llost a different rates and causes stress - or even warping.

Pure beeswax - available from j Lewis.
I would check with the suppliers on how to best look after it.
