Hi, Anyone got any ideas for a christening present for a 2 year old girl (I will be one of her Godparents)? Aiming to spend up to about £30-£40.

I made a time capsule for my nephew, not really expensive but the thought I put into it was really appreciated.

I bought my dds a really beautiful wooden plaque from F.A. Dumont. It's in the shape of a cross, but instead of the usual crucifix it has a pewter plaque in the middle with Mary, Jospeh and Jesus as a little boy.

F.A. dumont are on line. I can try and do a link if you're interested.

Or, for the future, a decent Bible - I'd go for the Oxford Study Bible NRSV. Christening Bibles are beautifully bound but are usually KJV which is a bit harder to understand IMO. The study bible has lots of footnotes to explain what is going on. This is an adult bible but one that should last a lifetime.

My DS was given a beautiful little, wooden stool by one of his godmothers (my sister) engraved with his name and date of birth. Don't know how much it was but the website is www.nigelcoope.co.uk (sorry can't do a link).

These were our favourites:

A tree to plant in the garden (perhaps something to do with her name).

A rosary.

A silver necklace (with a cross is nice but we also got a tear-drop shape pendant which is nice).

A nice wooden jewellery box or keepsake box to keep all the christening presents in.

Thanks everyone. I think I love the idea of a jewellery box best - something she can keep forever but will still get used. Great!
