Trikes - parent handle or not?

I'm thinking of getting ds a trike for his 2nd birthday and I've been reading the newly updated MN Reviews. The question is whether or not to get a parent handle? Do I just pay £15 and get the argos one, or is it worth the extra for the handle? We can't walk to the park from where we live so I'm thinking it'll be mostly used in the back garden. Do you think I'll regret not having a handle?

I found the one with the handle really helpful, but I had an older child with a bike so I did need to 'help' them keep up sometimes
If you are only going to use it at home I wouldn't worry about it tbh

I found a parent handle to be invaluable. DS could cycle to the park well enough but was often too tired to cycle back. It's very difficult carrying a tired toddler and a trike at the same time! I note that the park is too far from you - would you ever want to walk down the road (as Pamina says)? The bin at the back of DS's bike (sorry, mind gone blank as to what it is called) was very useful for transporting abandoned hats, water bottles or cartons of milk.

WE bought one with a parent handle as I thought it would be invaluable - actually never used it!

So the jury's out - any other opinions?

We had one woth handle and ds liked to ride it to park and post box so did use it. Less so with dd although we did also use it to the local play area but she was pedalling way before ds (who we now realsie has motor skill issues). We could also take it out in the car and use it for walks at parks etc.

If you are only going to use it in the garden I wouldn't worry.

I got one with one and I have a bad back. My son was 18 months and he still hasn't got the hang of pedals at 21 months. So I would not be without it. So it depends on his ability with pedals and how much stopping you want to do.

we got one on holiday in St Annes last month with a handle. It was only £7 from a second hand baby shop. DD (2.3)loves it although she hasn't got hang of pedals yet the handle is great. Its also detachable for later on.
