Assuming i take a load of washing straight out of the washing machine and stick it in the tumble dryer how long should I expect to take to dry?

NomDePlume Thu 11-Sep-08 19:13:38

depends how big the load is, what the fabrics are and how good your tumble drier is !

dont overlaod
thereby you haevironing
for min ironing do washign on a 800 spin and tumble the irnoing things( shoevr rest on line)

jeans take an hour

CostaRicanCod Thu 11-Sep-08 19:14:09

i raerely tumble a full load

split into two

zippitippitoes Thu 11-Sep-08 19:14:12

it depends on the tumble drier and how spun the clothes are so could be anything from 30mins for a small load of light things to 3 hours for jeans or towels in a crappy hotpoint condenser

My td has a weight guide/timing on the front, eg

3kg - 60min

(example not taken from my actual tumble drier)

My dryer has a sensor so works it out for you, but I tend to find small baby things, all cotton take about 30mins. Towels take about 45mins to be completely dry.

expatinscotland Thu 11-Sep-08 19:18:53

i used dryer balls. load is done in 60 minutes.

i don't overload.

you can also use it in combination with pegging out, particularly items that dry crunchy if only pegged out - 20 minutes for jeans and towels before putting them out on the line.

CostaRicanCod Thu 11-Sep-08 19:26:51

who weighs their wet clothes fgs

CostaRicanCod Thu 11-Sep-08 19:29:34

expatinscotland Thu 11-Sep-08 20:10:24

in this weather, i love my TD, too. it's been a lllooonnnggg time since i had a dishwasher. but i'd prefer my TD to that in this cilmate.

Tommy Thu 11-Sep-08 20:12:33

agree with cod - I'd rather get rid of the dishwasher.

Mine takes longer than a normal wash though so sometimes I have a backlog of wet stuff

Megglevache Thu 11-Sep-08 20:14:53

stick in a dry hand towel and a couple of drier balls and it gets done in a jiffy.

zippitippitoes Thu 11-Sep-08 20:23:18

oh sorry yurt hope yours is ok

i dry stuff on an airer oin the bathroom as mine only alsted 18 moinths anf d it had already been repaired in the first twelve under guarnatee

the heater blew

nicolamumof3 Thu 11-Sep-08 20:25:36

yep about an hour whatever it is less for lighter things but even a full load of towels/jeans never takes more than 80mins. i have a hotpoint condenser, its fab.

JacobsPrincess Thu 11-Sep-08 20:27:04

Mine broke today - the blardy thing is still tumbling, but there's no drying going on! Heater seems to have blown too. Do you experts think it will be worth fixing? or shall I demand DH break out the credit card and buy me a new one?

ChacunaSonGout Thu 11-Sep-08 20:31:59

mine broke yesterday grrrr

Yurtgirl Thu 11-Sep-08 20:33:16

Nicola - Do please tell me what brand yours is, you are giving me hope that I havent bought a pile of poo!

Mine is a Hotpoint condenser TCL770

I am hoping and hoping that it is rubbish today just because its new - it does say rather vaguely in the instructions that it wont work properly for the first few cycles....

ChacunaSonGout Thu 11-Sep-08 20:36:44

i barely tumble anything and wash on average 3 loads a day

Sidge Thu 11-Sep-08 20:37:15

Jacobsprincess it could be the thermostats have gone - ours go from time to time. My DH could repair it (fairly straightforward) and a set of thermostats was ?£12 (can't remember exactly).

zippitippitoes Thu 11-Sep-08 20:38:19

mine is a hotpoint aqaurious CTD00

but it hasnrt workde for a year or two it just sits there takinbg up space
