How often do you use conditioner on your hair?

I am growing my hair and it is very thick

I have just started using conditioner

Do you use it once a week or every time you wash your hair?

I know it is a really boring dim question

each time I wash my hair, am currently on with John Freeda, however won't buy it again as it's too expensive, so will stay with tresseme

Ameriscot2005 Sun 06-Feb-05 17:30:56

Everytime I wash my hair, which is 2 - 3 times per week.

RTKangaMummy Sun 06-Feb-05 17:37:17

My hair is very long, but fine. I wash it twice weekly and condition each time, but only condition the length not the roots IYSWIM. And I use the cheapest cream conditioner I can find, simply to help get any knots out.

Everyday - I use Neutrogena

I wash it every day - I HAVE to. But I don't conditioner often.

think jerry hall once said she only uses condit, no shampoo

WigWamBam Sun 06-Feb-05 17:42:49

I have to wash mine everyday, but if I condition it every time, it looks like I've had my head in a pot of lard. I only condition once a week - and even then, only if I remember.

Gobbledigook Sun 06-Feb-05 17:43:13

Every time I wash my hair or else I can't comb it!

RTKangaMummy Sun 06-Feb-05 17:49:22

crumbs now I am confused

for a kanga of little brain that doesn't take much

Perhaps I will condition it just at weekends

I don't really have time during the week in the mornings anyway.

Thanks you lot are really brill

I can still brush it without conditioner it was really to make it look better and to make it softer IYSWIM

WigWamBam Sun 06-Feb-05 17:50:54

Kanga, it depends on what sort of hair you have. If it's dry and thick, it will need more conditioning than if it's greasy and fine. What's your hair like?

helsi Sun 06-Feb-05 17:51:39

I use it every time I wash my hair after shampooing. usually every two days. I find if I don't it gets tangled and is hard to brush through

Snugs Sun 06-Feb-05 17:52:38

If you are growing your hair, be advised - a comb is a lot better than a brush. It does less damage.

RTKangaMummy Sun 06-Feb-05 17:56:36

It is mega mega thick

sort of more normal to greasy than dry

It is straightish

The brush I use is one of those wide plastic ones

I don't blow dry it and so it takes quite a long time to dry.

Snugs Sun 06-Feb-05 18:01:35

Does it tangle easily?

If not, then maybe you don't need conditioner (yet). If there are times when it is extra greasy try a vinegar or lemon rinse - couple of tablespoons of vinegar (or lemon juice is defo nicer) in a jug of warm water for the final rinse. Rosemary is also good, especially if you have dark hair.

RTKangaMummy Sun 06-Feb-05 18:15:11

I can't really call it tangle

But when I put my fingers through it sort of doesn't go through easily towards the ends.

But it is not really a tangle.

It doesn't hurt or anything.

Snugs Sun 06-Feb-05 18:20:25

I wouldn't condition then if I was you.

Finger comb it, starting at the bottom and work back to any lugs. Never comb from the top down, that just stretches any tangles and splits the ends of the hair. If you do brush, do it after you have removed any tangles - purely for styling or glossing, not for de-lugging.

25+ yrs of bum length hair so I have learnt from (often painful) experience

WigWamBam Sun 06-Feb-05 18:23:02

If it tends to be greasy, then don't condition the roots, and only do it every so often. See how you feel about it once you've used it a couple of times and make your own judgment.

RTKangaMummy Sun 06-Feb-05 18:24:47

wow I wont go that long

It is way too thick

Hulababy Sun 06-Feb-05 20:24:45

Every day, when I wash my hair. My hair is horrid without conditioner.

Frizbe Sun 06-Feb-05 20:27:06

every time I wash my hair, which is usually every other day.

Branster Sun 06-Feb-05 20:54:56

why not try one of those leave in conditioners once a week to see if it makes any difference. I personally find wooden brushes to be the best. they are a bit more expensive but last forever and don't seem to be that harsh on hair like palstic or metal ones are.
