What are the pros and cons?

Cosette Mon 30-Jun-08 13:06:15

We have a big one, and it's great. The kids have sleepovers in it sometimes.

We also have a desk so can work from home using it - but it's not great for working, as not insulated so is too hot in summer and too cold in winter, and too noisy sometimes too.

But it is nice to have it as an extra living space.

Do many spiders get into it?

nappyaddict Mon 30-Jun-08 13:19:18

Oh and do you have windows that open?

Cosette Mon 30-Jun-08 16:46:11

Not many spiders - far more in the house. Yes, we have windows that open - am here in it now - lovely sunny day sitting looking out at the garden.

oh that sounds lush.

It's also been great for entertaining, and although it's not ideal, we do use it quite a bit for working from home - so get masses of use of it. I would hate to be without it.

Can't think of any cons really - depends on what you want to use it for. Ours was here when we bought the house, and I have to admit was a real selling point for us. We have a couple of futons in here too - and a small portable TV with DVD so when our DDs have friends over they can watch a film, and then sleep out here.

Hello! Found this after your CAT.

Ours has double doors, opening windows and a porch area. Great for thr Teens to hang out in, and for visiting small people to play in.

The downsides are it is soo far from the house, so when entertaining you have lots of trips to the kitchen, but it is cosy with a BBQ or Chiminea outside. We have had electricity installed so can have heater & have electric lights.

Late last summer the kids had a disco at the bottom of the garden with disco lights in & around the SUmmerhouse (we have no neighbours at the back - it's a cemetry).

we have one, it's big, and yes, it does harbour quite a few spiders and earwigs etc. dh fitted an air conditioning unit, keeps it heated in winter. we don't use it as a summer house though, dh is a portrait painter and it's his studio

Ooh, we are doing building work at the moment and are debating a summer house or pavillion type structure - links to examples would be lovely!

we have a rectangular one with a veranda bit on the front. We now have a hot tub in there along with a weights bench, cross trainer and exercise bike.

I would have prefered it to have been like others on here have, more an entertaining / extra living space.

LucyKate, that's really lovely!!
