Best car for lugging children in and out of car seats?

Have a toddler and a baby and live in the country so constantly putting the poor children in and out of the car. Plus load and unload the double Mountain Buggy. I don't have the best back either and as DS gets heavier and heavier it's really beginning to take its toll.

I need a car which has tall doors so that I can minimise the lifting and bending. A big boot for the buggy too.

Anyone's life been improved since they bought 'the' car?

before bought this, also tried a mercedes a class, which i think would be good(although small boot) and an audi a2(shallow but high boot)and both cars are relitivly small.

also have an a-class and my toddler steps in by herself - bought a little stepping stool for her. It's higher than other cars, also good for strapping the baby seat in cause you don't have to bend down to do it

Have just got a megane scenic - absolutely brilliant. loads of room, good sized boot and fab for lugging kids (5 and 2) in and out of. I bought this car because I had a bad back - and its definitely helped.

Thanks for everyone's replies. Will look at the C3, Peugeot 206 SW and Megane.

I wanted an A2 or an A class but DH says that as this will be the family car (i.e. for long trips across country) it will be two small. We curently have an Audi A6 estate and manage to fill that with buggy, highchairs, travel cots (parents don't have any equipment at their houses) and luggage.

Just come back from holiday in the US where we had a Dodge Caravan. Lovely! Would never, ever be able to park it here though

206 sw are still justa 206 with extra boot space, so still not massive..how about a 407 sw/esate? saw one the opther day and they were nice(dont know how much)?

Not taller doors then? Think the 407 is new(ish) and we need to get an older (cheaper) car.

We have an older style Scenic (4*4 so a little higher than the regular model, but same body shape) and the kids can clamber in and out themselves. No problem getting a 3 wheeler in the boot but we did remove the parcel shelf and coudl carry loads of other stuff with it. Plenty of height to it and I can get in the back easily to strap them in if needs be.
