Name tags for clothes - iron on or sew on ?

I need to get some of these and am sure the question has been asked before but I never took any notice.

Which are the best tags to get ? I want minimum faffing and maximum durability.

I have iron on ones, so I'd say go for sew on. The iron on ones need a smooth area to stick on. Have trouble finding smooth bits on a fleece.

I always do sew-ons. Just think they look nicer and less likely to come off.

I used iron-on and a few weeks into term most of them are off already (not helped by dd thinking that it's a good game to peel them off).
Am just about to order some sew-on ones.

Iron on for socks - these are fab - the second ones down

Stick on for inside shoes - I love these as they can be personalised by colour, font and an icon

Hanging tags for bags - these are by the same people as the shoe ones

Sew on for other clothes - Cash's were the originals

you can just write on the labels

RudyVonLasagne Fri 05-Oct-07 13:02:27

thanks for ideas all. foxy - I would just prefer to write in biro on the labels, but some clothes don't have them, or there isn't enough space to write anything legible on them. May have to go for the sew on, as I don't want to appear to be slovenly...

I enjoy sewing name labels in, but I'm also doing a maths degree so perhaps we are both wierd.
PS ebay great for cheap sew on labels.
