I've got less than 2 weeks to find something for ds! We were going to get him a bike but he can't pedal & logically, doesn't want one. Any ideas for a wild child who loves cars, planes (one that really flies?) & drawing? Thanks.

How much have you got to spend? Has he got a scooter or a balance bike? DD has both and loves them. Other non-girly presents that are hits are Geomag, the doodle book & Kidknex.

You can get remote control type cars which are suitable for this age. We still have a really sturdy one by Tomy I think. It's like an F1 car - think it costs about £20.
You can never have enough lego, K'nex too

He's got a Thomas scooter, which he quite likes but he's not confident physically. He's got masses of energy but no way of expressing it except by fighting with dd & shouting NO! I WON'T! at us or I DON'T LIKE YOU, MUMMY!

I have a total budget (I buy for absent family & they reimburse) of about £100.

He got a Leapster for Xmas which he's since b*ggered up. Wants another one but £60 is a lot.

one of these, if you can find a way to get it sooner than the amazon despatch date

I would definitely recommend a balance bike, especially if he isn't that keen on a proper bike and is not that confident with balancing. DD has a puky one, which is great, though would probably have gone for something lighter if I had to do it again.
A small trampoline is another possibilty.

A trampoline is a great idea & I like the Roary Racing car track toy.

He says he really wants "a plane that can fly". There's a nice looking one on amazon that's said to be indesctructable but the age recommendation is 8. Should I risk it?

Playmobile pirate ship. Will play with it for years.
