If you could only keep ONE gadget in your kitchen which one would you save as the most useful????? (Ourselves excluded of course)

I am trying to find THE most useful
mixer/blender/chopper/grinder/juicer/smoothiemaking/dough-hooking/pastry-making/time saving/all rounder to help me with our new resolution to cook from scratch and improve our daily diet.

Kenwood Chef. It s the daddy. All other stuff can be used with it - juicer, cake-whisker, dough hook, dicer, blender, citrus juicer etc. It is big and matt silver and British-made and my mum still uses the one she bought 40 years ago. Expensive but enduring

Rhubob Wed 04-Jul-07 15:10:07

i dont need one

good weighing scales
good pestle and mortar

MrsBadger Wed 04-Jul-07 15:11:17

big knife
good pans

if you feel you must have a gadget this type of thing does everything - blends, chops, grates, liquidises, juices etc and the posher model (which I can't lay hands on atm, try JL) has a dough hook too.
Someone bought us one as a wedding present and it is very good, though we only ever seem to use it for blitzing soup as aforesaid good knife is usually better and creates less washing up.
