Are they reasonably priced? Is there an alternative you could recommend?

Waaaah!

Oh dear. What happened?

I scraped the wheel arch on a pillar in Lidll car park, being really dim!

There is also a bumper scuff that was there when I bought it, and I am beginning to think that a scuffed-all-round car might be one that people don't bother about if they are parking up against or opening a door alongside, if you see what I mean.

And I have heard that services that come along in a van and do scratch repair are good value.

But I have no idea what good value actually is, and which outfits might be Cowboys!

I have used Chips away a few times, but not in London. I think they are a franchise so should have good service wherever they are based.
I haven't compared prices though, I used them for the convenience and also the fact that they specialise in chips and dents rather than being a garage that I know nothing about, and it's a name that I recognise, if that makes sense.

They were lovely people who came round to quote for us, but in the end, the quote was a good £400 over what the local bodyshop could do it for, so we didn't go with them in the end. Shame, because I thought they were very nice & professional.

Does it have a dent then? If its a cosmetic scratch (even a small gouge) or scuff then you can try t-cut (in the tube).

We're in London and I'm getting rather good at scratches (bastards).

Eek, £400 OVER the body shop price sounds as if it is expensive!

T Cut will certainly improve it a lot: I am just time pushed. It is a bit dented, but I am not car proud.

Gently with the t-cut as its a bit abrasive. A few applications and it will look ok. Honestly. We've had so many mystery scratches and chips, boris bikes parked against the car, fat arses plonked on bonnet, bags rested on bonnet, bags scraped along side, wing mirrors pinged...

I got chipsaway out once for a huge scrape and they did an amazing job very cheaply, and also showed me how to deal with scrapes myself, t cut is amazing stuff. Definitely try that first, its a tenner a bottle and works well.

Thanks Amitha, can you remember roughly how much?

Maybe I will pay my nephew to T Cut it.

They were great here (Glasgow ) I had a number of mini chips on the bonnet of my car. The colour was totally gone and they were white which really stood out on the very bright red paintwork. Their work was amazing the paintwork was immaculate when they finished and the price was dead reasonable too.

Next to nothing, i think it was £10 pr £20!
