KS 2 TEACHER, SUSSEX seeks job share...any advice?

Hi. I've been at the same school, teaching upper KS2 for years and really fancy changing school. It's so frustrating to see so many full time jobs advertised, and almost no part time positions.

I'm starting to think that the way forward is to find a job share partner and then apply togther for a f/t post.

Any idea where I could start my search?

tia

Have you tried contacting the schools and asking if they'd consider a part-time post? When I was looking to change jobs (also upper KS2 and wanting to work 4 days as I have been doing for 5 years) I contacted the Head of the schools advertising posts I was interested in and asked about p/t positions. It seems to be down to the Head/governors as to whether or not they'd consider it but if your enquiry happens to coincide with another experienced member of staff returning from maternity leave and wanting to go p/t you may be the answer to their prayers!

I accepted a PPA cover role at my current school as it meant I could continue p/t, the PPA bit won't be permanent though so it was a good way in.

You could try TES, Netmums local/meet-a-mum board or even put an advert up at some of the local playgroups (to reach teachers who are on maternity leave).

thanks for the tips, everyone.

jennifersofia, i'm in brighton but happy to travel half an hour so to work.

great idea to get in touch with mums on maternity leave. also TES boards are a good idea.

tbh, i hadnt thought of approaching heads directly as i assume that there would be plenty of people willing to work f/t. also, SE13mummy, i only want to do 3 days but can see tha this approach made sense for you ayou are virtually f/t.
