Hi

I'm considering a move to Salisbury and I am completly in the dark about the schools in the area - can anyone with a bit of local knowledge point me in the right direction regarding which primaries are best avoided or any that you are happy with - obviously the location will depend on house and availability but any help would be geatly appreciated - thanks!!

There was a thread about this not long ago, if you can find it. It MAY have been 'Wiltshire' related.

The upshot of it was that most primaries are fine BUT be aware it's a selective (grammar) secondary school area thus unless your DC is VERY clever OR you can afford a place at one of the many private 11+ prepping schools, your options at secondary are Secondary Moderns. Some are perfectly OK (St Edmund's for girls springs to mind), many are dire because they've had their 'top tier' creamed off by the grammars.

There ARE private secondaries, but the choice is very expensive Godolphin (girls) or Leehurst Swan (coed) which I THINK may have religious affiliations as it grew out of La Retraite Convent. I don't think there IS a private boys secondary.
