We had them, have never heard of them not being offered at R or Y1. We even had one in Nursery

I'd have thought they were an OFSTED requirement.

It is a requirement of EYFS to offer parents the opportunity to discuss their child's report in the final term of reception.
There is no formal requirement for a parents evening in nursery.

Thanks all. So they get reports as well then ?

Yes legally you must have a written report at the end of reception.

DS's school don't do parent's evenings.

Instead parents can make an appointment to see the teacher anytime when the teacher is free, with a form going up in the last term with all her available slots that parents can put their name down for a time and talk to her then.

I think with this system parents talk to her a lot, so we get more feedback than if we just had one evening a year or term to discuss things.

I'm probably cornering her once a month at least for little chats about DS's progress blush

Thanks everyone - I thought that might be the case
