ds (10)- Saturday football- £20 a YEAR. What a bargain. He has never done after school clubs- prefers to come home or go to tea with a friend. Never played a musical instrument, gone to Kumon maths or karate.
DD (13)- does sport every night after school- free. And most lunchtimes. She does 4 hours of singing/dance/drama on Saturdays, including a private singing lesson- that's about £40 a week.
I always hated the idea of having to fill their evenings with activities- and being a taxi service.
Reading some threads on here, I think a lot of children do ridiculous amounts of organised activities, and are not allowed to BE BORED and entertain themselves.

Well, ds (5) tags along midweek with dh to martial arts which costs £4, but this is a new thing, not sure if it will last. He also goes to the county music service for music and singing at £154 a yr.

DD goes to Tumbletots with me in term time which is about £5.50, or about £175 a yr. Also through nursery she goes to Kindermusik which is £25 for each 10 week session.

The dcs also go swimming every weekend with dh which costs £2.90.

I don't think we pay out a lot at all compared with friends who pay out literally thousands in extra curricular activities.

Beavers - £20 subs per year and £25 per term (or might be the other way round).
Does one after school club (board games) and one lunchtime club (draughts) a week - both free.
We go swimming every few weeks, free for children, £2.90 for me.

He did do swimming lessons when in reception, think they were about £40 a term.

ds (3) goes to a preschool gymnastics class which is £36 for 8 sessions (one per week). He goes swimming with us as a family once a week but gets in free.

dd (6) goes to gymnastics which is £36 for 8 sessions like ds. She goes to swimming lessons which costs £17 per month but she gets a card with them that lets her swim for free at the local pools so we use that when we go swimming at the weekend.

Dd is 8, she goes ballroom dancing, street dancing, plays the guitar and does horse riding. I think it comes to about £40 to £50 a week but tbh it all comes out if the bank by direct debit so I am not sure. She dies a mixture of subidised activities through her school and full price classes. She has also just started fishing with dp and next summer we will start either shooting or sailing with us as a family.

I have got 4DC and it just all seems so expensive
The secondary school sacked the county music service and brought in their own private music teachers which at £7 a lesson was about double the price.Until you realise that DS1 would have been getting it free from Th music service for music GCSE
And then gymnastics for my 4 and 8 old DDs is £7.50 each per sessionn run by local council seems a lot more than other areas and council run badminton £5 per session 1 tutor and 10 teenagers seems pricey.
Council; swimming is £5.25 per lesson so we have dropped that for now.At least good old Brownies is cheap at £10 per term.

Music, 6 lessons in total (3 DCs) £72 per week.

Annual sports subs for various sports for all 3 DS £260 this year.

Sports coaching £35 perweek from now until Easter because it's indoors. In the summer it's almost free.

After school & lunchtime at school is free.

Finished with scouting, and swimming...Thank goodness.

For dd, 5, we pay:

Rainbows (after school) 40 euros per term
Dance class (Sat am) 100 euros per term
Just signed up for Fri lunchtime dutch classes at school - cost 50 euros per year.
School swimming lessons - 10 euros per term

She goes to holiday clubs run by the school which cost between 20 and 40 euros per week depending on whether provide lunch or not.

We go swimming every few weeks - 1.50 euros.

She's quite keen to do a "baby" tennis course next year. That would cost about 100 euros for the week.

Ds (4) swimming £68 a term sep-xmas, just started music at £48 a term local non profit making body. Thats quite enough for now both weekend classes as just started in Reception and too tired during the week...

Lots atm as I'm trying a policy of lots of extra sport to get my DS1 to sleep more.

Three sports activities this term. One expensive (tennis), one medium (private, at school) one cheap (LEA run at school). £150 in total for the term. Planning for it to be cheaper next term. Hoping he drops tennis, LEA thing stops (sadly) but he should start Beavers soon.
