So need to decide between town and country...

...for a primary school for my DD's.

I'm very undecided.

The local village schools are all pretty good. Small which is great for teaching but I could foresee problems with friendships for DD's and could be claustrophobic. We live on the outskirts of town so I could see geography being an issue too.

The schools in town are a mixed bunch but there are some good ones (some very good) and they seem to offer more diversity in the curriculum and opportunities available. I guess more students equals more money. I'm quite drawn to this model but am concerned about whether its best for the DD's. DD1 particularly is a worrier and can be quite shy.

In an interesting position as under the local admissions system we won't get into our closest school so have to look further afield. There's a very high chance that we would get into both the village or other schools in the town.

Anyway I'm rambling I'd just welcome your experiences good and bad of both types of school.

We are a 20 min walk from school, which I sometimes regret because dc's friends all tend to live quite local to the school, so there is a lot of playing together that my lot don't get to join in as much simply because they don't live close. Also when we do have ch. as playdates, it is a bit arduous to go and collect (get other dc and trek out around 6pm etc, don't get home till 7pm etc) though we haven't got a car, so that is definitely part of the hassle!

Hi there jennifersofia thankyou for taking the time to reply. I'm also concerned about the social aspect, friends make a big difference. I've got a car so transport is easier but its still an issue if you live away from your friends. I think I'm favouring town on this basis. Also its very likely that DD1's great nursery friend will go to the same school.
