Anyone else feeling the same? Caught sight of his blazer for next year hanging in the wardrobe next to his current uniform sweatshirt and felt a lump in my throat!!

Yes me. My beautiful first-born DS leaves primary school today and every time I think about it I almost burst into tears. If he had his HS uniform here that would just send me over the edge!

I bawled this morning. We had a leavers assembly and it started with just 8 of them on the stage singing "You Raise Me Up" and gradually more and more of the dcs joined them on the stage singing. It was beautiful and tissues were much in demand.

I haven't bought her uniform yet, but it will be nice to see her smart for once, it won't last

My only DS's leaving award ceremony is next Tuesday and I am dreading it! We had a Year 6 review of the year this week and they showed a brilliant slide show set to music of their trip to the Isle of Wight, I had a huge lump in my throat from the first slide, and my friend whispered 'don't you dare start' in my ear!! Remember them all as tiny little things on their first day like it was yesterday. He is also in a play on Monday, so I have several occasions left to be very embarrassing on. Don't think I will be the only one though, hope not!

Yes, that's exactly it, I remember him at 5 years old wearing the uniform for the first time and I can't believe he's this great lumbering 11 year old off to Grammar school in September!!

Feels rather wierd that I'm actually not feeling emotional whereas i thought I would!
Perhaps it's because DS is soooo looking forward to starting 'big' school and although he has finished at primary he's off on a 'summer science school' next week for 5 days.
I think it will hit me more on the first day at secondary school - all dressed in his blazer and tie......
(Still got to teach him how to tie a tie yet.....)

my baby left the infants today. perhaps not quite the same as moving on to secondary school, I know I will be a wreck when my older one goes there in a couple of years time.

But, she is my youngest, how did she get old enough to go to juniors? Also the head who has been great throughout my 5 years association with the infants retires today, she and I both had damp eyes this morning and DD bawled throughout the afternoon at school, and I cried when I picked her up, as did her class teachers. Wish I wasn't so soft hearted.

oh yes me!! My first born baby boy left primary school today. Just keep thinking about his first afternoon in reception....what happened to all those years??? Very emotional day.
Luckily I have another 5 children to go through primary school , so that helps. But cant believe my first baby is so big already LOL

Definitely. All I can think about it all the stuff she's done - the trips and plays, and all the times she's come out of school with paintings.
Also, it doesn't seem a minute since I took her into the reception classroom, and she wouldn't let go of my hand. She told me the other day that I wasn't allowed to take her to the bus stop on the first day.
What are your favourite primary school memories, then?
